The leader needs to be aware of the fact that all accomplishments (or non accomplishments) of a subordinate are a result of can do and want to. Every one of the four combinations requires a different approach from the leader to get to the desired result. Recognizing the situation, why it occurred and what the subordinate needs in every of the four situations to secure the required result, is extremely important.
